Fall Brings all the Colors

It’s been an exciting year out here for the Broxton Bridge team! Our last newsletter was about 8 months ago and since then, we’ve hosted hundreds of friends and family!
Fall blesses Broxton with stunning views, but also, is that a leaf or a clay falling!?
News about the Broxton Fan favorites, well, our donkeys, Josie and Curly, had a very sweet baby girl in May. We call her Little Donna! While we loved snuggles, we knew she had more to give and wow, she has landed the jackpot. She is now with Reins of Hope in GA! This little girl gets to spread her joy to many children at a therapeutic riding farm.

October marked one year of our grand reopening of the Sporting Clays course! Our course was designed by Rick Hemmingway and Gerhard Varn and updated monthly to keep folks challenged and having fun! In the first year, we hosted 4 registered shoots, 5 fundraising shoots resulting in over 700 people participating and had dozens of new faces come and pull a trigger for the first time with us! Our one-mile, 15 station course has a covered shooting stand at each station to provide a spot to sit and watch (maybe some hackling) and to stay dry in the rain! These were all handmade by our own team at Broxton! They got so efficient that it took about 12 man-hours for each stand!

Miles of Trails!
Let’s not forget our other fun clients.
From the equestrian view, we have been seeing the fruits of our labor on the Bear Bay side of the property. We started working on those trails back in 2021 and between hurricanes, long periods of no rain followed by lots of rain, we are proud to see the trails holding up well! So well that in November, we hosted the Fall Ride at Broxton (FEI/AERC) and had 50+ riders tackle between 25 and 100 mile races! The trails look untouched! No horse shoes needed out here! The ground is barefoot friendly for over 50 miles of trails.
For riders looking for a day ride away from any shooting events, the Bear Bay property is just across from the Broxton Bridge main entrance and provides another 10 miles of trails. You can still park down at the campground and follow either the Red/White or Black/Gold arrows.
Back to pulling a trigger, we hosted our first ever night Helice shoot in July. Great way to avoid the heat and flies (but folks did enjoy meat and fries!). This was a blast and 25+ people showed up to join in on the games. Helice is open to the public by appointment only. Come try out this European sport in the low country.
Broxton hosted the 3rd Annual SC State Helice competition in November. This sport has taken off across the USA and if you love shooting birds, you need to try Helice. We had a few competitors travel from as far as Texas to compete. The weather was crisp and the food was fantastic. All meals were freshly prepared by Comfort Lane Cafe, thanks to Ms. Barr!
We thank you all for such a wonderful year out here at Broxton. From our shooting customers, RV members, horseback riders and just outdoor enthusiasts, we love hosting you all!
